The brainchild of Leicestershire County Council's Corporate Parenting Team and the Children in Care Council, thebeaconleics.com aims to provide children in care with the information they need about all aspects of being in care, as well as acting as a communication channel allowing them to have their say, get involved and have some fun along the way.
Students from Loughborough University worked with members of the Children in Care Council to come up with some initial design concepts which Cuttlefish then worked up into a responsive design for the site, built using a modified version of our cPortals CMS. As you'd expect, the majority of the features are only available to the young people for whom the site was built, but you can get a flavour from the launch video on the site, also created by the students for the spectacular launch party they laid on - nice work guys!
This project has been yet another fabulous one to work on, with a demonstrable positive effect in our local community which all involved can be proud of. There are already plenty of ideas from the team which are being refined for updates later in the year so we're looking forward to this one getting bigger and better!

This is the second site Cuttlefish have built for our County Sports Partnership, Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport (LRS), and it's been another one we've had a lot of fun working on! Built using our cPortals Content Management System (CMS) the site incorporates lots of funky features with a bright and bold design and really showcases the great work LRS carry out, as well as being the number one resource for all things sport, no matter how much or little you participate!

This app for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch was created by Cuttlefish for Derby's QUAD - the aim being to engage and inspire the public to explore QUAD's exhibition programme. Visitors can use the app to scan QR codes located around QUAD to learn more about the exhibition's artists and curators. Through the app, visitors can also access related audio and videos and can take part in activities at each exhibition.
The app is free and already receiving 5-star reviews - you can download from the App Store

Nintendo Life delivers comprehensive news and reviews coverage on what is arguably the planet's number one video gaming brand. After absorbing Virtual Console Reviews and WiiWare World in 2009, Nintendo Life has become one of the largest sites of its kind on the web, covering retail, download and retro content from the world of Nintendo.
Developed using the Cuttlefish cCMS platform the website is real-world proof of the scalability of the system.

Having seen our work for Inspire LeicesterShire and Sports Think Tank, Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport approached Cuttlefish looking for a replacement for their Active Together Workplace Challenge website.
The Active Together Workplace Challenge is aimed at organisations in Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland and promotes a more active lifestyle with offers of innovative methods to stay active. It's free to join and once registered there are many tools, resources and support available to help achieve your activity goals and compete for prizes along the way.
Their existing site was functional but, as often happens, their requirements had changed over time and could no longer be handled efficiently by their existing solution. Our brief was to build a new system from scratch using our cPortals CMS and completely overhaul the functionality, branding and design of the site and email newsletter - no small task, especially with the added pressure of an 8-week turnaround time! Needless to say, we rolled up our sleeves and sure enough the new site was built, tested, tweaked, polished, optimised for mobile and launched in time for the 2012 Workplace Challenge. Following the launch, we have now also built and implemented 'mini challenges' whereby workplaces and groups can create their own challenges and keep themselves and their colleagues active throughout the whole year.
It's worth noting that Cuttlefish also took part in the Workplace Challenge itself and, while we were by no means last, we're certainly looking forward to improving our ranking next year! If your workplace isn't already signed up, we heartily recommend you head over to the site and get registered!

Since going live with their new site Broadway has seen a 98% increase in online ticket revenue. In January 2012 they generated three times as much revenue than their previous best ever month. The site is visited by 25,000–30,000 people per month (it was at around 18,000 on the old site). As at 27th February 2012 the app had been downloaded over 10,000 times and is used between 2,000–3,000 times per week.
