British Blind Sport | Our Work

British Blind Sport

British Blind Sport aim to ensure that sport and leisure facilities are accessible to every blind or partially sighted person in the UK, with the intention of improving their physical health and self-esteem.

We were tasked with creating a new website that truly showcases the impact British Blind Sport has within the sporting community. By providing an intuitive space to discover sports and developing bespoke features tailored to their online shop, we focused on delivering the best possible user experience.

Creating the Shop

We created an online shop for the client to be able to sell their own merchandise as well as signpost users to external providers. We didn't want to set up two different shops, and so our database enabled our client to add internal and external products into one database.

External products are then highlighted with different colour buttons and clear messaging to ensure that users aware that they are being directed away from the BBS website.

Accessibility for All

This project was approached with an accessibility-first mindset. Every aspect, including design and functionality, required us to review the best practices for the potential users. A particular focus was on those with visual impairments and so we ensured that appropriate fonts, structure, colour palette and interactive elements were considered to provide a great user experience.

Our skilled team also attended further accessibility training events to experience challenges that some users may face and try out possible modern devices to help. We also ensured that our site was thoroughly reviewed by the latest testing software on launch.
