North City South | Our Work

North City South

The draft North, City, South proposal is in response to the Government's instruction to reorganise and reduce the number of councils in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. It proposes the creation of three equally-sized unitary authorities to deliver all council services to residents.

We were asked to build a website to showcase the proposal to the general public for consultation.

Designing for Clarity

The overall design emphasises clarity, accessibility, and community engagement, helping users quickly understand the project's scope and explore detailed plans that could affect them.

White space and subtle animations were utilised to ensure that key information would not be overshadowed by 'busy' backgrounds.

Councils

The number of councils involved influenced how we styled the contact page and external page links. We went with a simplistic style using an image, title and call to action as it made for a better user experience when trying to find the relevant council.

Website Design

The District and Borough councils around Leicestershire collectively created the North City South proposal and branding, which provided us with the direction for the design.

We decided that large, bold text should be used for headings to keep users engaged, with spacing for attractive location specific imagery and maps, however it was important not to let the styling interfere with the important text based content.
