App Development
The Sleep in the City (SITC) project requires users to provide data on their sleep and moods at periodic intervals that can then be analysed by researchers at Loughborough University.
It was decided that for more reliable responses, the method of data capture would be via mobile applications rather than desktop websites. This would ensure that the study participants had their devices with them whenever a notification was received to submit some data.
We ensured that the design was straightforward to understand by creating a series of wireframes and performing tests before building the full apps for distribution.

Features
Sleep In The City features were designed to be simple to engage with to ensure a high return of data submissions from the study participants.

Monitoring Progress
Study participants can monitor their own progress from the app dashboard. Links to any surveys they are yet to complete are presented, as well as an achievement gauge.

Logging Sleep
Participants can record their progress on each date of the sleep journal. Completed days are marked with a green tick so that past entries can be spotted and submitted.

Reviewing Health
The study requires participants to provide a single score weekly about their health using the EQ5D model. This tool was created to specific validation requirements for digital use to ensure the question could be included.
