About

Cuttlefish is a creative web and mobile app development company based in Loughborough, Leicestershire in the UK's East Midlands. We create simple-to-use but powerful content managed websites and mobile apps for a wide range of clients from large plcs and councils through to local businesses and community groups. We also have a strong Digital Arts strand to the business and love innovating with technology of all kinds.

You can see what we've been up to recently by viewing our portfolio. We're always looking for new challenges so if you've got a project you'd like to discuss, talk to us.

What it's like to work with us

When you work with Cuttlefish, you'll get your very own dedicated development team. We have an easy-going but hard-working and professional attitude and pride ourselves on our team's stability and camaraderie.

Good planning and communication are at the heart of any successful project. Before a line of code is typed we go over your requirements in detail and take time to understand your immediate needs and your plans for the future. We will then prepare a project proposal detailing our solution, together with timescales and price. Depending on your project we can often provide a flexible costing plan tailored to you.

With us there are no middle-men, the people you speak to are the people building your site. We know that ideas and requirements can change over a project's lifespan – this isn't a problem. We are accustomed to responding quickly to change and will always clearly explain any potential implications.

The launch of a project is just the beginning – we will continue to provide support and can work with you to help grow your digital presence and make the most of the opportunities it can bring.

The Cuttlefish Team

Sean Clark

Sean Clark

Director/Digital Artist

Cuttlefish Multimedia Ltd

An internet pioneer, Sean created his first public website in 1993 when such sites in the UK numbered less than 50. He started his first web company in 1995 whilst working at Derby University and formed Cuttlefish in 2001 as a means of combining his love of arts and technology in a single business. He has degrees in Computer Studies and Digital Arts and has written for the popular press as well as publishing over 20 research papers. Currently working towards a PhD, he is Cuttlefish's resident digital artist and, when not taking part in or organising exhibitions, is flying the flag for the art he loves. Sean is frequently out and about on his orange Brompton bike – give him a wave (or preferably some archaic computer equipment for his collection) next time you see him!

Jude Venn

Jude Venn

Director/Lead Developer

Cuttlefish Multimedia Ltd

Jude embarked on his programming career at the age of 8 building games on a second-hand Commodore 16. Technology and Jude's love of it have both come a long way since then! Over the years his experience in building robust, innovative software has spanned many programming languages and industries. Jude heads up the development of our core platforms and is also Cuttlefish's server and mobile app guru. In between coding for work and coding for pleasure, Jude relaxes by baking all manner of treats and playing ridiculously loud guitar (although as you might expect, he programs his own effects).

Jon applies his sharp coding skills primarily to our cPortals projects but can (and will!) turn his keyboard to just about anything. Since joining Cuttlefish in 2013 Jon's been using his strengths as an innovator, problem-solver, perfectionist and tea-drinker to create first-class software and keep our lovely clients happy. A talented musician, Jon plays both guitar and drums but not, as far as we're aware, at the same time (yet).

As well as being a CSS genius, Nathan provides client support for all our core platforms. When he's not geeking it up at Cuttlefish HQ Nathan can be found geeking it up at home, at his girlfriend's house or pretty much anywhere with Internet access. He does occasionally step away from the web to play guitar, cycle and interact with real-life humans.
